New Numbers! Yay!

I love seeing new numbers on the scale!  I feel such a rush of accomplishment.

So my last blog was about my frustration of not seeing much results.  During the month of November, I was working out 5-6 days a week, for at least 2 hours at a time, burning 1200+ calories.  I lost ONE pound during that entire month.  ONE!!  I was beyond frustrated.  But….I kept going - which was a huge accomplishment in itself!   At the start of December, I re-evaluated my approach and realized that maybe I was just working out TOO hard.  Not allowing my body enough time to catch up.  So, for the last two weeks, I have been working out 3-4 days a week, still about 2 hours a day, but I’ve been taking it a little easier.  I have already lost 6lbs, and new numbers are appearing on the scale!  So it seems that for the time being I am going to keep on with this new routine….until I hit a wall, because I think it’s working!

So, let’s try this again….

It has been quite a while since I last logged in here.  Like almost 6 months…..ha!  I got so busy with finishing school, that my weight goals had to sit on the back burner.  You gots to do what you gots to do…..right?  Well, I can say that even though it was a stressful time, I didn’t gain any of the weight I lost back.  Yay!

So, here I am…..I have begun again.  I have been hitting the gym at least 5 days a week, most of those days for at least 2 hours.  Mixing up the cardio, fat burn, and weight training exercises.  I have even been taking a water aerobics class (which is a blast).  But in two months, I have seen maybe 5lbs of weight loss…..I’m feeling a bit discouraged.  I feel like I am working out so hard and eating good, but it’s just not budging!!

I am beginning to wonder if maybe I have some kind of medical condition that is making it harder for me to lose the weight…..somebody said maybe it’s my thyroid.  I’ve never had it checked……not that I’m trying to make any kind of medical excuses, but I just feel like for what I’ve been putting into it, I should be seeing more of a result.

Well, I guess I just have to keep on keepin’ on…..I’m not giving up this time!!

Leavin’ on a jet plane….

…well at least I will be tomorrow!  Yay!  VACATION IS FINALLY HERE!   (big SIGH)  I am so in need of a nice relaxing vacation away from home!

So tomorrow night we leave for Jamaica!  8 glorious nights!  I really have to say that I am probably not going to be sticking to much of a diet/exercise plan for the next week….expecially at an all inclusive resort!  I am going to try to make healthier choices such as “I’ll have a rum and coke please….no, no, no….make it a DIET rum and coke….”  ok, probably not…but I’m not going to beat myself up over it either.  I’m going on vacation to enjoy myself and relax and relish in all that I have accomplished in life over the last year.

SO I’m OFF!  See you all in a little over a week!

My lunchtime triumph!

I did not give in to my cravings today.  I sooooo badly wanted to.  All the way to work I was thinking about stopping to grab something fast-foodish.  Even though I had made my lunch.  Mmmm french fries would be tasty….a burger sounds great….

but I didn’t give in!  I didn’t stop!  I came to work and ate the delicious salad BBQ chicken salad with feta cheese that I had prepared for the day and I know had I given in and eaten that greasy food I would have felt miserable.  I feel great!  And proud that my will power is getting stronger!

And away we go!

I am so sore today.  Good sore.  Kind of….haha.  My husband and I have taken up rollerblading.  It’s a BLAST!  haha!  We are both pretty unsteady and new at it, which makes me happy because he’s not automatically better than me at it!  haha!  I only fell once….I ended up doing the splits - ouch.  But I laughed as I fell and I laughed as I got right back up and kept going!  We made it about two miles, which I think was pretty good considering it was only our first real attempt at it!  I’m excited to do it again next weekend!

Two weeks from today….

….I will be on a plane heading for the warm sandy beaches of Negril Jamaica!  Woo-hoo!  It’s our “second honeymoon” or maybe “anniversarymoon”?  haha!  I got married last July and we went to Jamaica in August.  Well half of our trip was interupted by Hurricane Dean.  We stayed at a Sandals resort, and let me tell you, they take care of you!  They gave us a free return trip because of the storm!  We had to pay for the airfare, but that was really not too expensive, considering the cost of the total trip!  I’m so excited to go back!

 I’m totally in need of a vacation….

My husband and I went rollerblading last weekend.  That was a blast!  Oh man!  haha!  I had not been in probably 10 years, and he had never tried it.  We both had so much fun and we are going again this weekend.  It is great to try new exercise routines and feel muscles work that you haven’t felt or noticed in a while…..

Well….hi ho, hi ho…it’s off to work I go!  Have a great day everyone!

Feeeeelin’ Gooood!

Today was a good day……except for the pounding sinus headache I’ve had off and on all day….

I really have to incorporate as much exercise as I can right now.  Between school and work, I really don’t have too many hours left in the day.  I’m not beating myself up over it….and I do see the light at the end of the tunnel - 114 days until graduation!  I’m so excited!  Finishing school is basically my motivation for losing the weight.  I’ve been in such a different mindframe about losing weight lately, and I really like it.  I’m going to be a massage therapist.  Besides the fact that giving a massage is quite a workout in itself, to be able to practice for years and years to come I want to make sure I take care of my body.  Plus, I’m going to be helping people…. and who wants to take advice on how to better yourself and your body from someone who OBVIOUSLY doesn’t practice what they preach?!?  haha!

I had a dream about doing yoga last night.  It was pretty comical, and pretty much how I think it will actually look when I give it a try.  I’ve always wanted to practice yoga….so I’m going to give it a go.  I am going to get a video to do at home for right now….when I have time come this fall I may take an actual class!  I’m also going to go rollerblading this weekend!  woo-hoo!  I haven’t rollerbladed in probably 15 years….haha my husband has never tried it, so it should be a blast!

Well, I just wanted to ramble on for a minute….I really like blogging, I think it feels great to get some of these thoughts out of my head!

Yay for Friday! Yay for ME!

Let me just start of by saying this has been one loooong week for me.  Work has been hectic and school has been draining.  Plus my lovely monthly Aunt Flo has been here and evertime she shows up I just want to eat….bad things….mmmm chocolate….

BUT

I have had NO PROBLEM keeping focused!  I haven’t given in to the cravings, and that feels so good!  I even weighed myself this morning, bloated and crampy, (the worst time to ever get on the scale…I know, I know…) and to my surprise I actually have lost 4 more lbs!!

I started eating 5 small meals a day and it’s great!  I haven’t really been hungry, and I think that has been the reason for me being in control of my cravings.

It just feels good to be able to see some (even if it’s a little) progress….especially at my worst time of the month!

Relay For Life

I signed up today for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.

I participated last year and had soooo much fun!  It’s such a great cause and it’s so moving to see so many survivors and their friends and family out in support.  Plus, it’s good exercise!  Yay!

If anyone is interested in participating (if you live around here) or making a donation to the cause, here’s the link -

Happy Morning!

I feel fabulous today.

I didn’t have school today, so I woke up, had a grrrreat workout, enjoyed a nice breakfast, and just enjoyed the morning.

Unfortunately now I must get ready for work.  Oh well, hopefully I can keep my rockstar attitude all day!

I hope everyone is having a great day!
